FAQs

Below we’ve outlined our frequently asked questions by the various programs we run: after school programs, tournaments, summer camps & private instruction. If you have a question regarding becoming a BGA Regional Director you can check out those FAQ’s here.

If you have a question not listed here, feel free to contact us here.

After School Programs

The Better Golf Academy offers after school programs all across the country and some international destinations. Our locations will vary state to state and city to city. To see if we offer after school programs in your area go to our after school section and and submit a request.
No. All our after school programs include all the equipment your child will need.
No. We specialize in teaching young children and as us older players like to say "it's never too young to start".
This will change from school to school, however classes typically first meet at the front office or a popular destination such as flagpoles, cafeteria, etc. Someone from BGA, the front office or the PTA will specify ahead of schedule.
No. All equipment is provided by us and your child will be able to play/practice in their school clothes. Golf is not a sport with any running so there should be no concern in having to have athletic attire on.
The golf class lasts for one hour each week. Typically sessions are created in six or eight-week programs.
This will vary on a school by school basis, but often times we ask that parents come to the field or location where the class is held so your child has their full hour of instruction & play time.
You can register your child online via our registration page or directly via the school.
Most likely. We ask that students/parents register ahead of time to ensure we have the right amount of equipment and sizes for your student. That being said, we typically bring extra gear just in case. Given the popularity of our classes, we do advise you register early as we do have a maximum limit of students per class to ensure our instructors have an equal amount of time per child.

Summer Golf Camps

The Better Golf Academy offers Summer Camps all across the country and some international destinations. Our locations will vary state to state and city to city. To see if we offer summer camps in your area go to our summer camps section and submit a request.
Summer camps are typically about 4 hours per day for 5 days. We like to try to schedule morning and afternoon sessions to accommodate parents schedules as well as other children's summer activities. Our camps primarily focus on instruction & fun, however we also set aside time, especially at the beginning, for policies, procedures and safety. Our camps will cover the full swing, short game and putting. Each day will be a mix of instruction, games & exercises to ensure your child not only enjoys the game, but retains our instruction. Also, every day we set aside at least 30 minutes for lunch and depending on the heat, will take 2 to 3 snack/water breaks.
No. We can provide right or left handed golf clubs for your child. However, should your child already have a set, it's ok to bring them. Golf shoes are encouraged but not required. If your junior golfer does not have golf shoes, their shoes should be comfortable and have soles that don't slip in grass.
This will change from school to school, however classes typically first meet at the front office or a popular destination such as flagpoles, cafeteria, etc. Someone from BGA, the front office or the PTA will specify ahead of schedule.
There are a few items that will make your golfer more comfortable during their time with us: sun block, a hat, sunglasses (optional), a golf glove, light snacks (energy bars work well) and bottled water. Depending on the climate of your state, a windbreaker or sweatshirt may also be advised.

Private Instruction

The Better Golf Academy offers private instruction all across the country and some international destinations. Our locations will vary state to state and city to city. To see if we offer private instruction in your area go to our private instruction section and and submit a request.
To sign up for a private lesson all you need to do is submit a request via our private instruction page. We'll verify what lesson times are available for each instructor in your area.
Students are billed for private lessons ahead of the lesson to ensure we've locked in your times with your instructor. You'll be able to pay via our website once times & an instructor is confirmed.
Private lesson prices range in price depending on the instructor. Once you submit a request we'll be able to provide you with pricing.
Absolutely we do. Again, it will vary area to area, but not only do we love getting our young golfers out there, we love seeing them and their family playing together.

Tournaments

The Better Golf Academy offers tournaments regionally and locally. Our tournaments will vary year to year based on student interest level, parent volunteers and participating courses. To see if we offer tournaments in your area go to our tournament section for updates.
Tournaments will be broken out by age and skill brackets ranging from 4 years old to 12 and from beginning, intermediate and advanced. Players should be capable of carrying their golf bag (use of a pull-cart is based on the rules of the golf course) for 9 to 18-holes and have a general understanding of the rules of golf. Parents are allowed to accompany their children and help with the bag/cart, but cannot interfere in game play.
As long as the parents do not interfere with game play we do not mind them to 'caddie' for their children.
Prior to each event we will email each player a tee sheet for the tournament round. These tee times can also be found on our website here. To locate a tee time, click on TOURNAMENTS then click on CURRENT EVENTS. Here you'll be able to find details on your event.
The estimated time of completion of a 18-hole Round is between 4-hours to 4-1/2 hours.
The tournament could be FULL, in which case, we cannot accept any more entries.
BGA Tournaments will be played as long as the golf course is open for “Safe Play,” as determined by the golf course staff. We do not cancel tournaments because it is cold, hot, windy, raining, etc. – unless the golf course has been closed by the golf course staff.
OF COURSE!!!! THAT'S THE BEST PART!
